Automotive Network

I had this idea a couple years ago…

There’s a couple layers to this idea.

First, get all the vehicles to have an automatic WiFi type connection with all the other vehicles.  Any signal sent into one (or more) receiver would automatically be sent out to all the other connections nearby in effect the same way the internet connects to other servers.  This network could be used to boost cell phone connections, and if each server/automobile appends it’s ID, locating stolen/missing vehicles could be found almost instantly by the authorities simply by examining the connections listed near it (or maybe also have GPS location appended).

Now make the ID based on (or connectable to) the license plate number (& state).  Now add a simple communications gizmo to the vehicle’s mini-server to allow drivers to send messages to other drivers within sight, but still be relatively anonymous.  Give this device some pre-programmable messages (for ease of use while driving), and you can alert other drivers of things like a broken tail light, or "thanks for cutting me off!" messages.  The police could notify you of an impending speeding ticket, or an ambulance could tell you to move over to the right, or a message could be broadcast to you of construction ahead and which lane(s).

The idea brings quite a few other ideas to mind.

Here’s something similar to this idea:

Nagging Idea (Talking to Computers)

"Dragon Naturally Speaking" is supposed to be a really good voice recognition software…

I’m thinking that if I can get it attached to some script monitoring for specific words, I should be able to get a computer taking notes, updating my calendar, sending email, etc.

When I get some time, I’ll check out this Dragon software.

Hmmm.

A VERY old idea (Peanut Pizza)

I invented this one when I was approximately 5 years old!!!
(1972)

Peanut Pizza:
Sounds gross, I know, but it’s actually a cookie with marketing potential.  Being 5, I was disuaded from following up with this.  Strangely, the idea stuck with me.

Start with a cookie, maybe a sugar cookie or a Toll House minus chips.  Add caramel or chocolate on the top to represent the pizza sauce.  Now add coconut to represent the cheese.  Now top it off with peanut halves to represent topping.

That is, of course, only a particular variation.  Many other versions (like other versions of actual pizza) can be built with the same premise.  These would need to be taste tested of course.

Now this is one of my inventions I actually managed to try out.  It sucked.  But I am not a very good baker.  With additional experienced resources, this quite possibly turn out to be reasonably marketable.

Not bad for a 5 year old, huh?

An old idea (Sunvisor)

At 18 (1985), I came up with a 3-piece invention for automobiles.

Main:  Dual-piece sunvisor.  Two sunvisors hinged together, so they could be used independantly from each other, it could be closed to appear as one normal visor, but also open to be used for the windshield and side window.  Both pieces could fold up/out of the way independantly, or closed together.

Extension:  Within the windshield portion of the visor contains a piece of tinted plastic that could be extended to cover additional area up to and including the rear-view mirror.  Behind the rear-view might have been the optimal extended location, or reduced extension.

Additional:  This involves the use of velcro.  The plastic side being on the sunvisor, the soft fuzzy side on multiple sleeves design for common objects (notepad, cigarette packge, pen, etc).  The sunvisor, with a little extra added bulk, could be hollowed slightly for optimal use of this portion of the invention.  It could also be sold seperately as an after-market product.

(Ok, so the picture looks bad, but I hope it helps you envision it).

Introducing Tech Concepts Blog

(Ok, gotta remember not to add a picture after typing a whole lot on here… lost it all)

I finally figured out what to blog about on this personal blog.  I’ve had it for long enough.

I will be blogging about my my thoughts on tech ideas.  My ideas tend to be of a higher concept rather than specifics, but not everything.
